RRRRRRemenber

Rrrrrremember is a memory converter that reads images, sounds, images, and photos in long-term storage by reading fragmented memories in the human brain. The box portion of rrrrrremember mimics the memory of the human brain, and the exposed boards and wires are used as neurons for conducting signals and stored in boxes (hippocampus). The person triggers the machine by pressing the photo, transmits a signal to the display and draws the memory image stored on the photo, and obtains a retrieval. The human brain encodes information through Visual (picture), Acoustic (sound), and Semantic (meaning), and forms a memory grid stored in the hippocampus for later recall. Rrrrrremember uses the human brain to perform relatively correct memory extraction on the image (trigger point) and tries to resonate with the audience, allowing them to retrieve relevant memories.

The device explores the relationship between people, memory, and machines. The human brain transmits the image signal of the memory to the machine, the machine internally encodes it and forms a storage grid, then outputs the visual code and images it on the screen. The identity of the human brain is converted from the exporter to the recipient, re-retrieval Segment memory forms a loop. The machine is also thinking about human memory patterns while receiving human brain memory. What does this mean for the learning of the machine itself? How does the injected memory affect the memory of the machine itself?

Last year, my grandfather passed away, and I couldn’t get back soon when I first came to the UK. When I went back to China, I found that whenever I saw something that my grandfather and I gave each other, I immediately recalled the warm scene. This inspired my curiosity about the relationship between objects, memory, storage, and recall. By collecting what people think is the most precious memories, significant objects, and what kind of objects people want precious memories to transform into, I have selected six objects and their corresponding stories. A non-linear narrative of fragmented memory is represented by symbolizing and visualizing the content scene. More than just the visualization of memory, rrrrrremember also presents narration and ambient noise to the images by collecting the sounds of the memories, enabling the viewer to recall more accurately.

Through this project, I have a deeper understanding of future storytelling, combining future technology with human memory, which makes me have deeper research on the relationship between people and machines. I believe that thinking during this period will be of great help to my future work. In this project, I used two programming software, Arduino and Processing, to implement my interactive system. Through the study and production of these two months, I have progressed from a primitive teacher who does not understand programming to the present. During this period, I also encountered a lot of troubles and difficulties. Even on the day of testing, there were problems, but I have overcome them one by one. I think this experience is my most significant gain in this project.
